Hi there guys,

i was wondering if i could use the cd4053 or equivelant in place of vactec vtl5c1 optocouplers in a circuit like dual rectiier.

Thanx in advace!!!

signal-switching (most likely higher voltages than the 4053 can handle...)

The 4053 and its ilk can only handle voltages up to their power supply, well technically near their power supply. If you are looking at switching signals larger then that you will have problems.

If by "dual rectiier" you mean a mesa dual rectifier then looking at the schematic I would say that you could make your own optos using a photocell with a appropriate resistive range as the Vactec's are just being used for switching.

Yes i could make my own optos if i could find the a LDR that it would be about 30 Mohm!
