Hi All

I have a new Morley Distortion/Wah/Volume and like many others out there find the distortion terrible, especially with single coils. It's a very flabby overdrive with waaaay too much low end in it.

Here is a link to the schematic from the morley webpage.

I see it uses 1N4148 diodes. Anyone know if I can swap these out or add more for a more distortion type sound ala Boss DS type? Also, can I put a high pass filter in it to tame the lumpy bottom end?

This would be a great little all in one emergency pedal if the distortion wasn't so bad. Any help would be appreciated.

OK from a quick look see :

C 13 0.1uf poly change to a 0.047uf poly, less low end in the distortion
C 22 1uf 50v electro change to a 0.1uf poly cap should give you less
bass output ( when using distortion )

D3 one of the 1N4148's change to a 1N4001 power diode
less compressed "farty crunch" to a more assymetrical crunch and
a bit more gain.

Thanks Marty

I will get adventurous and try out your suggestions.  May be the beginning of a long a twisted obsession with diode swapping.

Anyone else have some suggestions?

To get rid of the "way to much low end" change the input cap (C 24) to .001

After doing that, you'll notice a huge difference, man.

What's the stock distortion pot's rating eh?  25K i think?  Change it to 50K-1Meg .  for more distortion....
