neo-vibe doesn't oscillate at slow speed

That's great. Bad caps would do that. Had the bad caps been abused? It would be interesting to know what the failure mode was.

no the caps were brand new, and i soldered them very carefully because the previous set was the second i tried in case the first was somehow abused...

but it seems that the circuit needed those NP's...

i'll report back when i replace all the caps and do the final tests.

That's weird. I've used polarized caps there and had it work. That's why I asked if they had been abused.

After a long period of building, troubleshooting and tweaking,
i finally finished my vibe!...

but the result is quite rewarding.

The damn thing sounds fantastic
and i'm really happy to have it in my "arsenal"...

My luck with NP electros ended shortly after i put them on,
so i tried some 1uF film caps i found in the local market
which solved the problem once and for all.

I even replaced the electros in the preamp section with these
and the tone got way better.

Also, a carbon comp in the mixer section added a little spice
(call it hiss...hehe..)

Maybe the voltage ratings on the Polarized caps where wrong for the LFO voltages
