Hey !

I came across the Lil' Devil by accident and decided that I should give building from a schematic a try since I can barely understand them.

Also for the first time, I decided to try assembling the circuit on a solderless breadboard from Radio Shack,  it took me forever to figure out what I was doing because I was tired but... the darn thing fired up first shot and damn, the little one knobber sounds SWEET  ;D  After being discouraged from my still non working GE fuzz face experience, I feel like I've accomplished something great by building the Devil.  For those who don't know, it's a hybrid silicon/germanium fuzz that sounds suprisingly warm, wooly and smooth but not over the top.  So far, I've settled on a BC108 for Q1 and a AC187K for Q2.  The best part is that everything works in this circuit !

Who needs 2 knobs when 1 sounds this great   and  thanks to Dragonfly for sharing this !  It does Black Sabbath to Queens of the Stone Age very nicely and a ton more applications with the guitar's volume knob backed off.

So far, I've built a Fuzzrite, Rangemaster, and now the Devil, all of which I'm absolutely thrilled with !  The only one that didn't thrill me was the Silicon Fuzz face but I still haven't installed the reverse taper pot I just got for it.  We'll see.

Sorry for rambling on and on but I'm psyched !  Next up is the Shin-Ei.

I've had that schematic in my "to do" file for awhile, but haven't gotten around to it. Thanks for the report. I'm glad things are working out for you. You'll love the Shin-Ei. It's one of the better 60s style fuzzes, with gobs of buzz. Let me know how you like it, and also how it compares to the Fuzz Rite tone. It's OK to be excited BTW! I mean if you're not, why bother?
