Now that the culprit (volume pot) has been eliminated the fuzz works perfectly! Thanks again everyone for helping me out. Two questions: when the gain pot is full on there is some hum added, would grounding the case of the pot solve this? Also, is it regulare for the smooth pot to decrease the volume the farther it is turned? Is there a way to overcome this? Other than that, I think it's modding time! The transistors I used are too high gain and I will start experimenting with the caps etc. The favourite fuzz face tweaks thread came in a good time for me.
