Hi everyone

This is my first post here and what a great community this is.

My first two questions are: I am using the 'offboard wiring 3' diagram from tonepad.com
http://www.tonepad.com/getFile.asp?id=76
The wiring on the switch is easy to understand, but I am not sure which way round the switch I bought needs to go before i can wire it, or is it anyway round as long as I follow the diagram?

The DC socket I bought looks different from the one in the diagram. I would like to know which pin is which in the diagram.

My second two questions are:
How do I protect my metal socket from shorting?
My socket is switched. Is this a problem?

Phew. Your help would be very much appreciated.

You can use the switch any way you like, it is the same, as long as you follow the indication on the Tonepad article.

You should try with a dmm to check wich pin corresponds to what on your dc jack.

You need to avoid contact between the metal jack and the chassis, I think Steve at Small Bear sells some kind of plastic washer for doing that. Otherwise, you can try at the hardware store and see if you can "adapt" something.

Good luck, and welcome to the forum. Always try the search function before asking, lot's of knowledge there  :icon_cool:

Bioroids is right, there are several different pinouts for switched DC jacks. Check the connections with and without something plugged in. One less potential mistake.

Well I checked the pins on my socket, and I'm now pretty sure I know which is which. Now all I need to work out is which pin is which in the diagram.

Thanks for your help bioroids and Paul. I appreciate it.
