hi all, i was pointed to your site from a fellow pedal enthusiast. great site! i have a few pedals that need some repair, and was wondering if i could get some pointers.

1, is a Pearl F-605 Electro Echo Analog Delay pedal. it has potential, but is extremely noisy. on the chorus and "duplex" settings, i can get the effect, but i also get extremely noisy, whiny-ish sounds...kinda like a couple sine waves just modulating up and down...or like turning the radio dial and getting wierd ufo like noises. i tried to mess with the bias trimpots, but doing so just makes it more noisy.

how can i go about testing the parts and pinpointing the problem? i found a link to a schematic, but it doesn't seem to work.

2, i have a klemt echolette tape delay, but i don't have a power cord or output cable to even test it. does anyone know what kind of power cable i would need? here's a of someone else's echolette:

also, the output cable is this oldschool 5 pin din, but i can't seem to find a 5pin din-to-1/4 cable converter...any tips would be appreciated.

3, i'm trying to track down a Boss DC power jack with 2.1 mm pin for a pedal of mine. i found a link on here pointing to the mouser part number, but i just get an error in the search.  does anyone know what the exact part number might be? mouser's site is damn confusing.

thanks!

mouser sends out free catalogs every 90 days.. sign up for it, it's extreeeeeemely helpful. way better than their online navigation system.

i've seen a 5-pin DIN before, but never got so interested as to find out what each pin is.. can't help you on that one.

try replacing the transistors in that pearl and make sure wiring is good, and that the pcb is clean.. if that doesn't work, it may take much more work.

transitors are the black chips, yes? and pcb is the board itself?

there are: jrc4558, mn3005, MC140138, MC1458CP (L8025), MC1458CP (L8024) two of them.

are mn3005s even available anymore? hopefully, it's not that one that's bad!

whoops, those are the ICs. oh boy, i tried searching around for pics of transistors, so i can just figure out what i'm looking for to no avail.

can someone lead the blind? :)

where is the link to the Pearl F-605 Electro Echo Analog Delay schematic?

not to be demeaning, but i don't think gener knows what a schematic is.

here are some pictures to help you out:

transistors! (USUALLY the only part on a circuit board with 3 legs)

chips: (can have more legs than the 8 in this picture)

i found this message regarding the pearl schematic.

"The Pearl schems I have (from http://experimentalistsanonymous.com/diy/) show that they used either 2SC2240(GR) or 2SC1815(Y) transistors as the first transistor at the input. Now all you have to do is find the equivalent..."

ok, i see them.  looks like there's a lot to mess with. thanks.

as for other parts/repairs, does anyone know of a good resource where i could order tape heads for tape echos?

go to www.smallbearelec.com and look in the jacks section to find a boss size DC jack. i don't know if it's the cheapest out there, but i like giving my money to a small business  :icon_cool:
