Hi!

I'm sorry if this is supposed to go on the OT forum...

well My space station is dead, I'm unable to find a schematic online, I noticed that a diode (IN4001) marked  D12 on the PCB was burning and smoking, just beside the power supply socket. I replaced and it burned again...

so please help me debug my pedal! if someone with a digitech XP model pedal and more experience than me could help me, I'll be forever thankful

  Once again, Thanks!

Andy

I don't have a schem either, but usually a diode right next to the power supply jack is to protect the rest of the circuit from being damaged if an incorrect power supply is plugged in, e.g. wrong voltage or polarity. Given that your replacement diode also fried, perhaps you are using the wrong power supply, or perhaps there is a malfunction in the right one that is causing it to output the wrong voltage. Get a voltmeter and check the output to be sure.

Now, the diode is not perfect as a protective device, so there is still a chance that some "bad" voltage got into your pedal and did some other damage, but at least this is a place to start. If you do have further damage that you can not figure out, Digitech will do service on discontinued models as long as they still have the necessary parts.

As a worst case, the new Digitech EX-7 Expression Factory does include the Synth Swell effect.

Replaced both 4001's, it works like a charm now, thank you very much for your help!!!!  that was not extremely difficult.

I'd love to KNOW what's going on inside the corcuit for this to happen,I have a vague idea, but I am still learning.

Thank you very Much one again !
