Fuzz Face help

Hi there,
I'm new to the forum and I have a buddy who has a BLUE Fuzz Face.  I haven't seen it yet but it needs a new pot and transistor.
I need to know:

-What kind of pots to buy
-How can we mod this pedal to have a tone control/pot

I usually post on fuzzrock.com and I've modded my Memory Man DLX and I'll post pic links later.
