I put together the son of screamer and what a cool smooth tone it has. Just one problem I have is that it oscillates when the tone pot is dialed right in the middle. I've tried all the usual tricks to kill the oscillation to no avail. Interesting thing I found is that if I remove one of the outside leads to the 10k pot and solder it to the other outside lug of the pot with the tone cap still solder to the middle lug, the oscillation is gone. Alot more highs on the dial with less bass though. Sounds good still but who needs that much highs. :icon_eek:

The middle position should be the most stable. I have to suspect that there is a fault in the wiring somewhere.  Trace the wires from the Tone pot back to the board very carefully to make sure they are in the right spot

Thanks Jack, That was it. Dug out the fluke again and started probing. Pin 7 of the socket wasn't making contact. Don't know how I missed that the first time around. Sounds great now. Had an interesting tone to it with pin 7 not making the connection.   ??? Time to experiment with a spare chip and my accidental find.

Cheers
