I wantet to do a mod, it's suggestet for Big Muff RI's but when I opened up mine (new RI) it seems to have anoter pcb with only 8 cabs and all where 1.0uf.

Can someone help me? Maybe there are other mods?

Here's the one I wantet to do:

1.  As suggested on R.G.'s schematic:  replace the 1.0uf caps with 0.1uf
caps.  Reference numbers on the parts layout are: C1, C3, C4, C7, C13

2. As suggested on R.G.'s schematic: replace the 0.1uf caps with 1.0uf
cap.s  Reference numbers on the parts layout are:  C6 and C9

3. Here is a very popular, good sounding tone stack mod. Replace the
   C10 & C11 capacitors with this values:
   C10  - 0.022uF
   C11 - 0.1uF

One mod thats quite popular, i think is changing the values in the tone stack to that of the 'swollen pickle'..

another is to change it to the 'triangle big muff' specs

I'm totally new to this so which ones are the diodes???

Bernardduur

If you have a reissue version, they are blue and rectangular. There are only 4 of them in the pedal.

When you don't have reissue, they are brown-red with a black bar

I have USA reissue. what exactly does that for the tone?

yes, those are the ones...it might be a good idea to only lift one side of each of them out of the board (if you like the mod,you could always wire them to a switch afterwards)

Bernardduur

Yes, those are the ones!

Yes, a switch is a great way.... but I hate the way these diodes sound... so if you would install a switch I can highly recommend to change them to normal Silicium diodes.

Tried it out, I think it sounds better now, not so muddy, but it's soooooooo loud now  :o
