Hi
I just built the standard orange squeezer. It worked great. So I decided to try the mod.
Now it doesnt work.

It works nicely as a bypass effect.

One thing I have learned is never try and build these things with out a PCB. Im using cardboard. It looks crap but it worked fine for the standard queezer.
Now im stuck.

One question to start off -
The second IC:
Im using 2 TL072's.

In Mark Hammond's mod, the first IC seems to be rewired using IC pins 1,2,3,4,8 with the second one using 5,6,7.
I left my first one as it was in the original plan (using pins 4,5,6,7,8) and wired the second one using 1,2,&3. In this second IC I wired the 8 to VCC, the 6,7 together & 4,5 to ground. Is this completely wrong? (mimicking the setup of the first one) I dont really know what Im doing here....

So, to summarise, could someone tell me: if Ive wired my first IC up as in the original orange squeezer, How do I wire up the second? If possible (please, Im new to this)
could you tell me where the wires go ie. pin 3 to R9 etc....as Im a bit stumped with out the PCB layout to look at.

Thank you.

After doing the audio probe debugging trick I get signal next to the first Cap and resistor and no further. After both of the first resistors I get no signal.

This is strange because it would suggest a bad connection....but It worked fine before the mod.(It compressed audio clearly, and well)

I think Im going to buy a pCB board for this and rebuild... :(

any ideas would be great....

You have a wireing problem.  Look it over again real close.   The pins do not need to be wired just like the mod shows it.....Mark told me that he just used that pin out with no real intention other than it will work the same if you wire it just like the original.

so the second IC should be wired identically to the first?

Where to do I wire the pins that arent mentioned?

I was following your posts with Mark earlier, trying to learn something from your efforts :)

Look close at the PCB layout and you will see how to wire the left over pins.

One more thing....not mentioned in the other thread with Mark.

I later played around with 8 different 5485(s) and found a pair that were fantastic!  Try different FET(s) even the same type have a lot a variation.

But there is no PCB layout for the second IC..is there?  (im talking about the modded version of the orange squeezer, not the original)

There is the layout for IC1 but theres no PCB which includes the extra section  for the mod ( which uses a second IC)
