What does it do?


Or better yet: What is it supposed to do?



In my case it changes Q2 Collector V from 4.3 to 4.8 and at the same time alters output volume.
Is that what I should expect?

I had the same problem. I believe it's supposed to be a tone knob...?

According to the esteemed Mr. Fuller ...

... with 2 Germanium transistors hand-picked and tested for optimum performance. A Contour Knob lets you dial in Midrange, Harmonics and Sustain, also an Input Bias knob that takes out the "woofiness" and gives great Overdrive/Distortion sounds when its level is reduced.  An Internal Trimmer allows for adjustment  of Clipping Symmetry, Harmonics, and Tracking.

Midrange, harmonics and sustain all sounds great.


I've searched the forum and found that there are a number of threads talking about
the contour pot affecting volume but I still haven't seen one that say's it's "by design".

Is it supposed to behave like that?
