I want to figure out how to make soft on and off switches to use in stompbox circuits. This site has comp. noise reduction, the well informed mind may know what to do with them.

Thanks Donald.  There are similar circuits on the Fairchild website if you're interested in those opto's.  I've been messing with the H11F1 recently.  If you back up to the directory level on that link (http://www.fairchildsemi.com/ds/H1/) there are tons of data sheets, though not all have app notes.
