Simple switching-why can't I figure this out?!

Ok, I don't know why I can't figure this out! I want to install a switch on a Bazz Fuss that selects between two different diodes. What type of switch do I use? I tried a SPDT with the common terminal (center) wired to the collector of the tranny. Then I connected the negative side of both diodes to the base and the other ends wired to the open switch positions. It didn't seem to work.

On a similar and even simpler switch wiring question: how do I wire a switch at the output to select between two different capacitors?

Thanks for all your help!

I'm not sure what your diode switching problem is as your description sounds correct...

For caps I like to use the fact that capacitance adds up when caps are put in parallel.  Therefore you can put 2 caps in parallel and use an SPST switch to break the connection of one of them.

                        SPST
                           /
        ------CAP2---   --
------|                       |---------
        ------CAP1-------

Maybe it's working. Diode changes can be subtle.

I just realized-I might have an on/off SPDT slide switch (it's unlabeled); I need an on/on SPDT don't I? d'oh!!
