I have a dunlop fuzz face that isn't getting much use. It's incredibley muddy and only really works well as a boost to add a little more b@lls when I have the volume on the guitar back or have it running in the coil split mode.

It seems like it has potential but I don't really know what to do with it, does anyone have any mods for it???

Any help will go much appreciated, as I currently have no use for it but do not wish to give up on it just yet.

Thanks, Jay

Everything you wanted to know about the fuzz face but were (or weren't) afraid to ask:
http://www.geofex.com/Article_Folders/fuzzface/fffram.htm

Also, the search function is your friend. However, the information from that link has probably spawned more 'boutique' fuzz face manufacturers than you can shake a stick at.

unfortunately, my "mods" for it were....

1) rip out guts of dunlop ff from case...keep only knobs and jacks
2) build a "proper" fuzz face circuit, using a 10k-20k trim pot for proper biasing on q2
3) install new guts into fuzz face casing

you can get ac128's and 188's from jack at www.muzique.com
(the "nkt275's" in the dunlop ff are just stamped generic germ pnp's)
or get some nice germaniums from www.smallbearelec.com

sorry...thats the "mods" for it....

oh..btw...try using a .01 as the output cap, and a 1Uf for the input cap to clean up some of the muddiness, yet still get a pretty classic sound...
