Hello all. I am not to the board here. I'm attempting to build the lofomofo as my first DIY stompbox. I threw one together last night and it didn't work on first try based off of the schematic  at:
http://www.geocities.com/tpe123/folkurban/fuzz/snippets.html#lofomofo
and layout found at:
http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/pdf/ggg_lofomofo.pdf
Everything seems to be matched up.

So when it didn't work, I came to the forum to do some troubleshooting. What I found was another layout done by Tim Escobedo:
http://aronnelson.com/gallery/album20/LofoMofo_Vero

The difference I'm noticing is the switching around in wiring on the input/output jacks, and volume pot.
In the first layout above the input jack Tip lead connects to pin 3 of the distortion pot, and the 220pf cap. But in Tim's layout, the input jack Tip lead connects to othe output jack Tip and to the ground of the Vol. pot, Dist. pot, and 2N2222 emitter.

This is really confussing to me and I'm not sure which one to use. Do both work with different sounds? Since my first attempt at the first layout didn't work, is Tim's the way to go? Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi welcome to the board.

Sorry I can't help with why your mofo doesn't work, but the top layout you posted is correct. I think the vero layout is incorrect, the jacks are drawn wrong. The green line is supposed to be ground so it should be connected to the sleeve of the jacks. The blue and purple lines are the input and outputs and should be connected to the tips of the jacks. Then the layout is the same as the others.

Thank you for the reply. That's what I was thinking as well. I just wanted another opinion to make sure. The troubleshooting continues.
