I've got a few scrap boards that were given to me, and have a few big IC's.. any idea what they could be used for/what they are?:

Beckman 898-3-324N
LM324N

I'm not sure what the first chip is, but the LM324N should be a 14 pin chip, and a quad op amp. I used that chip lately in the Octave Doubler circuit, and once upon a time in Tim's Octup Blender. Both circuits take 3 op amps. It makes layout congested around the chip, but you only need one chip. It's a little on the noisy side, and most people like the TL074, but they work, and yours are free. I believe they're on the order of 4 LM741s together, and a little older design.

Ditto on the LM324, see:

While we're on the subject of wierd chips, does anyone know what an RCA 217320 chip is? I have found a couple places selling them (and the motorola sc420155b's which are actually in the bag and come up on cross reference) but I have no idea what they are exactly.

If it isn't broken, take it apart and fix it!

Looks like a small score on the LM chips, unfortunately I have only about 2 of those and a buttload of the other! Ohh.. shinanigans. I'll look into those circuits - any links?

That's a hell of a coincidence, the Beckman ALSO ending in 324N..... it wouldn't suprise me, if they were really LM324s as well (or an equivalent). It's not unusual for instrument makers like Beckman to have chips made with their own labels on.

Just google        LM324 application notes       to get a ton of stuff about these useful chips.
