I've got a Marshall Guvnor(original) where the footswitch has broken. I opened it up and there was an Alpha DPDT footswitch. This is however a model which consists of the "actuator" (?) on top of the box and the actual switch soldered directly onto the PCB. When i opened it there was a spring, a tiny pin and some plastic washers and stuff holding everything in place. Of course it all fell apart :icon_mad:, and I'm having a hard time figuring out how everything was mounted in the first place. I have a feeling there are parts missing...

Does anyone recognize this construction and can tell me more about it?

i have a guvnor and the switch isnt anything like that, it is just a plain old dpdt.

This'll be a mark2 then. Basically the same switching as a BOSS pedal. Figure out what you have lost  - you need a switch on the PCB, and a spring-loaded actuator on the pedal itself. The switch just switches, the actuator is the thing you stomp on, and what should reset itself everytime, to it's "nothing happend - no, really" -position.

I can offer an actuator assembly if that's broken. But I don't know which of the several thousand tactile switch models out there would replace the board-mounted switch. If anyone can shed some light, I will carry the part if I don't already have it.

I'm not sure what you mean? Anyway, it's not really as small as a BOSS tactile switch. It's also a DPDT, not a momentary switch. It looks like the Alpha 107-SF12020-L DPDT at Small Bear, but without the actuator. I'll try to get some pictures so you know what I'm talking about.

That was really a far to complicated way of saying it's an actuator switch. Push it - it's ON, release it, it's OFF. At least that's what I think it is. Could very well be a board mounted DPDT.
Actually, if it's built like it's nearest family - the Jackhammer - it does use a DPDT - one half switching the LED, one half opting between effect out and input.

Hmm, I wasn't very clearly saying it was a Guv'nor plus, or GV-2 as it says on the pedal. Anyway, I finally got my new switch and finally got to changing it. I replaced the old "split" switch with the Alpha DPDT mentioned earlier, and it was a perfect fit!

Conclusion: A substitution for a Marshall Guv'nor GV-2 footswitch is the Alpha DPDT, Alpha 107-SF12020-L DPDT at Small Bear (or SKU16228 if ordering from Banzai as I did, being in Europe).

Thanks for the input!
