Well, I built 3 pedals now, and I'm getting a little ambitious now.  I love the sound of the MXR distortion + and want to take it a step further, Basically I want loads more gain.
If I was to chain two 741's (or 4558's for that matter) in series, before the clipping diodes would it end in a horrid mesh or tone heaven?

I was thinking about using the output of one D+ circuit as the input of the next stage and then clippin the bejesus out of it.

Good idea?  Really bad idea?

thanks in advance

I tried a batch of DIST+>DIST+ patching, tweeking dialing tuning...daggery/ :icon_sad:, IMO, something about the hard clipping not liking being preclipped. [
Found I was alot more impressed with a booster doing pre, [or post] DIST+ honors, making the pedal grind, more without the unwanted wierdnesses seriesed DIST+'s seemed unavoidably to have, YYMV after a statement like that but...that's what I heard when I tried it.
Mostly a Jfet MU, Starved, for that purpose, I like a pushed hard DIST+.

Check out Mark Hammer's RoseyRay.  It uses a dual clipper.  I've found running a Tube Screamer type into a Dist+ type, both at reduced gain, gets a pretty good sound.  Easy to build using a dual op amp.   :icon_cool:

hmm interesting... I think I'll go for the booster +D+ for now cos I can make it easier with the bits I got lying around, although I have quite fancied making a TS :)
