A photo comparison of 0.1uF capacitors

Had these laid out on the bench today and I thought it was a compelling enough picture to post. For the most part I find ordering parts easy, except for capacitors. So I ordered a few different types, looking for the smallest film caps. Its frustrating because one series won't have all the values I need so I end up with a mix. I'm giving the AVX multi-layered caps a try. The Greenies and boxed Metal ones are just too large for my current projects.

Personally, I've been using the AVX stacked metal film. There's a huge range of values, plus, they're quite small and you can cram many of them together. Others comprable in size would be Vishay/Rohderstein MKT series (I think 125 series) or WIMA box film caps. Take it for what it's worth. These are a few I've used over the past year, and I've consistently used AVX. My $0.02 cents.

Hi.
The standard pin spacing (5.06mm) of MKTs is a great advantage when designing boards with PCBExpress etc.
Only a few large values (>0.47uF, I think) have a wider pin spacing.

+1 I've switched totally to WIMA caps ever since Mouser started stocking them; neat looking, easy to install, and uniform in size.

And why do they use black ink on greencaps?  Us old guys can't read them.  Yay for yellow MKTs with black ink.

I'll use whatever I can find cheapest (yay ebay !!!) ....I've got a mega stash of 100n's and 150n in those 'greenie' packages ...The rest are avx style,both yellow and grey's ...I've got a few things built with the wima red ones, but I'm trying to keep things a little more uniform ,since I'm moving over to pnp ,instead of hand drawn pcb's (some of these caps have 5mm spacing...super tight layouts!!)
