Diode Switching in DOD250

I'm finally building the simple beast-a 250 clone from GGG's layout.
I'd like to add a switch to choose between symmetrical and assymetrical clipping-basically, just adding a 3rd diode with the switch on and removing it with the switch off. What type of switch (I'm thinking SPDT), and can I simply solder the diode to the lugs on the switch?

you could also do it with a spst switch, just wire the extra diode in series with the pre-existing one and wire the switch lugs to either side of the new diode; that way when the switch is open its 2 diodes in series and when the switch is closed it basically jumpers the extra diode, leaving you with the regular configuration.
