LED with pot?

By mistake I ended up with one 6mm hole more on front side of enclosure for my rebote so I'm thinking of way to put something in there
Is it possible to put led and replace middle pot with stereo pot, one gang with be for usual rebote control and second will adjust LED brightness. It could be cool since it's level control, so higher level is set ti will be brighter. If it is possible can you tell me which resistors to use. Pot is 100K which is probably much so I'm thinking about putting ~500ohm in series with pot for maximum brightnes and a resistor in parallel with pot to reduce it's value. How much should it be? With what resistance LEDs are almost of?

Most LEDs are roughly 2volts and 20ma.  After that you'll need more help, thats all I can remember lol.

Pots smell funny when they burn. I think it could be avoided with suitable resistor values. But if you use something else as a driver and just take some suitably arranged voltage from the pot then you can have any value pot, what you need it to be for the other half.

Maybe you could take the transistor driving leds part from "fading red eyes" circuit, needs some tweak for resistor values

Why would I burn pot with a LED
Here's my idea and correct me if I'm wrong. If LED is 2V @ 20mA with increasing resistance it fades away. I want it to be at maximum when Level pot of rebote delay is turned all way up, so when pot resistance is 0 I need to add about 360ohm resistor to make 20mA, right?
With resistor about 10K you get less than 1mA so LED shouldn't be visible. Since pot is 100K linear, according to Joe's EMH I need to add two ~5K resistor from pin 3 to pin 2 and from pin 3 to pin 2 of pot to make it approx 10k pot.

So, when pot is all way down I get less than 1mA and no glow and at max I get 20mA and max glow.
What do you think, will this work?
By the way, I'd use this pot

One "channel" is for usual rebote level setting and other for LED.
