Hi, i'm a newbie. kinda...

will it be OK to use this type of 1/4" jack on stompboxes?
it has an integrated spst cutoff switch, with 3 lugs, it won't be a problem will it?
cause i will only ever be soldering to the tip and sleeve, right?

i hope this makes sense...

I don't see why that wouldn't work. You need a  stereo-jack for the input, if you would like to use it as a power switch, though. But other than that I think they look just fine. But then again, I'm realy new to this, so if anyone tell you different, you should probably listen to them.... ;)

if it has a switch in it, I would think you could use it to turn the power on/off.

Hi guys,
On this one the switch is on the "tip" not on the "sleeve" so you could only use it as a standard mono output jack.
Although another use for this one is for eg: syndromet's ruby build as the external speaker jack so when you insert a plug it will disconnect the contact for the internal speaker.

hey guys, thanks for the replys

it seems pyrop is right, when the plug is inserted the switch is disconnected...
interesting...

such jacks are best used on builds where you want a signal to either flow normally inside the circuit, or be interrupted by an external signal. Think CV on some builds, or direct out on an amplifier.
