Softening this tone control

My distortion pedal is a bit too trebble sounding, even with the tone knob at zero.
Compensating with my amp's tone control works but then I sacrifice my shimmering clean tone, which I don't want.

The frequency of the tone control feels right, it just doesn't take out enough highs.
This is the schem:



Would it work if I rose R45 to take out more highs ?
Or what do you advise me to do ?

Why not try adding a low pass filter before the tone control?

Something like this:
