Buffer questions

Let's say I built 5 pedals.  If I put an input buffer in each one would that negate the need for output buffers?   Or, would I better off with output buffers only?  Or both?

I built a preamp for the guitar, it's in a small box hanging off my strap, has about 6 inches of chord.  Does that need an output buffer?

Should the last effect in the chain have a buffer so as not to be loaded down by the amp?

Basically I'm asking what is the best way to buffer a chain of effects.  Obviously I don't understand this whole impedance thing, otherwise I wouldn't be asking.

I don't have buffers going from pedal to pedal at all and I've never seen effects boards with them.

You have the (micro)amp that you already built on the guitar and it would be the guitar that would lose some frequency because of loading so I think you have already solved your 'to buffer or not to buffer' question. Your probably fine and you can go back to playing your guitar.

The only reason I have used a buffer before is to parallel effects and one of the effects inverts the signal so that adding them together again cancels the signal. In that case I put an inverting buffer on one of the effects.
