Dunlop JHF2 Fuzz Face....broken with no idea whats wrong, HELP ME

OK, so I got a Fuzz Face off ebay and it worked when I got it, took it another place and it didnt work....so yeah....um I dont know whats wrong. I guess I need to make a audio probe and try to find the problem but I dont know what wrong. It passes signal, and when you click it on there hardly any signal, there is a slight signal if the pedals knobs are all the way up... All the solders look fine, and I dont think there are any broken wires, all are wired are connected. all I did after I got the pedal home i moved the battery to the little battery shelf and moved the volume knob with the set screw. Any ideas what might be wrong, I guess I can scrap the guts and make my own FF pedal in the right case but man its a pain that this thing broke for no reason. Any ideas would be great.

hey man... not sure if this helps, but check to make sure that nothing is shorting out to ground that shouldn't be.  i know that has caused me hours of frustration.
