Hi, I have built the Fuzz Jade from the Dragonfly layouts and wondered about a couple of things, the layout shows a 1M resistor but on the original schematic i cant see one,is there a reason for it?
I have the circuit working and although its not boxed as yet, it lacks volume and also the tone control doesn`t seem to do anything
I`ll double check all connections but i`m sure they are ok. I`m keen to get it right as it sounds pretty damn good, very thick fuzz with the guitar up full and back the guitar volume off it cleans up, just what i`m after.I`m still new to this game and still dont fully understand what all components do thus the question about the 1M resistor so i hope its not a stupid question, cheers Crawf.

Can't see but that 1 meg is probably 'just a pulldown resistor to drain 'residual' or leakage from the DC coupling cap, so when the circuit is switched in/out a POP sound doesn't occur.
  The Tone Control...should control tone.
The output...should be 'lots' I guess, I never built one but have looked it over, IIRC it's a FF type affair from Fuzzcentral.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Hi,I have now boxed the Fuzz Jade and it works but has a few issues, firstly the output is too low,can it be increased? secondly the tone pot does nothing and thirdly the Fuzz control needs lugs 3 and 1 swapped as the control works in reverse.(which i`ve done)
The pedal does sound good and i feel it would be worthwhile to resolve these probs but as a novice i`m afraid i dont know where to begin especially if the thing is working albeit not 100%.
Anybody else built this or maybe have an idea whats wrong? all help appreciated.........cheers,Crawf. :icon_confused:

look at the far right transistor(Q3). the 100k resistor going from emitter to ground in the layout should actually go from base to ground.
the other one is the 470k from collector to V+, that should go from V+ to base.

here's the schemo from commonsound:

the misbiased tranny is probably whats givin' you problems.

Hi again,Thanks idiot savant, those changes got the tone working and the volume increased but it could be louder still plus if i turn down the "Mud" control it cuts all sound, but its a good sounding Fuzz, maybe i`ll use a booster after it for solos.
If you have or anybody else has further thoughts or ideas on this pedal i`d be happy to read them
cheers Crawf. :-\

...plus if i turn down the "Mud" control it cuts all sound...

Then don't do that. :) Play with intermediate settings instead.
