On the maestro FSH:
can anyone who has built it from the GGG layout
tell me if the layout is 100% accurate?

Or did you have to make changes?
Thanks in advance

BILLYL

Just finished it up.  And am not getting any output - very weak.  Have not checked the board to the schematic - but others have made it.  You could have a issue with your FETs.  you could have them reversed - check for a spec sheet and make sure you have the pinout correct.

I would be very interested to find out what others say.  Also - what FETs, transistors, and  IC did you use?

I used the parts specified in the parts list.
Thats exactly my error, 0 output - just silence. Something is simple is wrong I know it.
All soldering checked - no shorts, no bad joints.

I reckon something is reversed or something like that, but surely someone else who built the layout must have noticed this in order to make it work. :icon_idea:
So hopefully one of these people will bestow upon us their wisdom soon.

OK - after spending what seems like days and then giving the board to a TECHY friend 0 he found the problem,  Seems that one of the traces had bleed over to another trace - kind of shorting out one of the JFETs.  He scrapped the trace off and the thing is now alive!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a awesome effect.  But check the traces around IC1 and Q2.

Good luck

I knew it!
I knew it was something simple like transistors pointing the wrong way.
Using the prescribed BF245 JFets, they should be inserted in the opposite direction to which the layout says.
If you built this or are building with the BF245 JFets, check this out:

Do you mean the 3 traces that zip up inside IC2 up to IC2?

Andy-

The three JFETs that are indicated on the schem.  One needs to know the correct pinout so that they are oriented correctly.  Not knowing this has caused many builders hours of troubleshooting fustration.

Let me know how your build turns out.
