How noisy is the Dr. Boogey?

Is it like any other distortion circuit or does it come with a little more noise at higher gain?  Since I have a BSIAB2, this might be a good comparison if anyone has built both on a PCB layout.

mine is noticeably more noisy than my BSIABII. and, it tends to oscillate.

it is a high gain project, make no mistake. I play through high gain stuff, and the biggest drawback is that i need to have one foot over my channel switch at all times.
