Pulsar Placement In Pedal Chain Affects Noise

My Pulsar build is pretty quiet.  If I have it running into the amp directly playing pretty clean, no ticking.  If I run it through one distortion box, even with higher gain after it, no ticking.  Here's the one situation where it makes noise: when it's first or second in line with a bunch of pedals after it and the depth is turned up more than about halfway.  It isn't an issue of high-gain pedals after it amplifying noise, either, because even if every pedal after it is bypassed (all true bypass EXCEPT the Crybaby)

Tonight's setup went Orange Squeezer, Pulsar, Distortion Plus (no diodes as a "clean" boost), Tubescreamer (to 808 spec), stock GCB-95 Crybaby.

If I turn the depth knob up more than about halfway, even if everything else if OFF, I get ticking.  If I have the depth knob way up and switch the pedal on or off, I get a short (1-2 second) burst of louder ticking as I switch it on or off.  I think that's from my big filter cap charging or discharging.  But that ticking happened before I added an extra stage of filtering on the LED as in the LED Click thread.  This also happened before I gave the LFO its own 9V and ground wires (with an extra stage of filtering)

Any thoughts?  if the Pulsar is last, it doesn't click.  If there's anything for me to try and find the source of this problem, let me know.  I'm really curious what's causing it.  I *think* it does it even with all true-bypass effects (ie, no Crybaby) but I'm not 100% sure.  I modified the Pulsar so that at zero depth, it really is zero depth.

It's dead quiet when bypassed.  I don't think it does this clicking when the depth is up AND it's bypassed.  I'm gonna try to get a handle on that tonight.  This circuit has been more problematic than my other builds, but a lot of good learning at every step.  Thanks in advance.
