I want to install an extra mini SPST switch in my boss DS-2, the only problem is, where ?
I'm allready canibalising the mode1/2 switch for something else so I can't use that one.
What would be the best place to install one ?

I can also rip the remote jack out, but the hole is way too big for the switch  :icon_confused:

Oh and, if I want to install a bright led, do I need to change something else too or will it light up just like that ?

switch on the foorswitch / battery compartment door?

Hmm, that's possible, but it would be pretty risky because the chance of accidentally switching it is pretty big.
Plus I lose the battery space so I'll allways need an adaptor.

Could you not squeeze a tiny one in, between the pots, right in the middle of the top surface
in the black "background" area, as close to the "foot switch ridge" as possible ??
( between tone and distortion's "Hi ----- MIN" legend there's 1.5 cm before the footplate )

... Sorry that was hard to explain !!

Yes, there seems to be 1.5cm space on the left and right of the led indicator.
That's just enough to squeeze one in. I totally overlooked that space because I couldn't even get my finger in it  :icon_biggrin:
Thanks Marty.

Now I need to find something else to mod too because I can suddenly mount 2 switches instead of 1  :icon_cool:

This is why, despite the cornucopia of things that could be done and added to Boss pedals, much of what the aftermarket mod people do to them involves replacing parts on the board and adding maybe a toggle switch.  Very little room to work with in there, and even when there is, it is often incompatible with what you want to do and the size/shape of different control-related parts like toggles or pots.  Ironically, the chassis that Fulltone and Visual Sound pedals come in seems to be more amenable to add-on mods involving panel switches and pots.  Of course, who buys those things to mod?

EDIT Nevermind, what I said was stupid, lol.

Yeah, boss pedals are really compact inside.
2 SPDT switches works, and if you really crap it, then 3 is possible too, but that's it.
I was hoping to get an extra pot in there, but it just isn't possible, it wil remain a trimmer.

Have you seen those tiny little Pots?

Its amazing where you can squeeze these things - of course, you need a small enough control knob as well.

Also, you can fill and re-drill holes.  I use "plasti-bond", that two-part putty filler stuff.  You just put masking tape over the hole from the outside, then fill the hole.  Works great!  Even better if you scuff up the area with some sandpaper or an engraving tool or something first, then clean with solvents before you put the bog in there....

Those little pots look cool and they might fit.
Where can I get them ?

SolderBoy

Sorry about the slow response...

Here in Australia, I get them from Jaycar:   www.jaycar.com.au

I guess you could just mail order from them if you can't find them in your neck of the woods.  They are a large-ish chain of shops, so you shouldn't have any trouble.
