ever had a pedal just quit switching on you?

working on a DOD FX50 Preamp/OD right now, and the thing refuses to switch off. it's got the standard DOD/Digitech momentary switch, but i'm pretty sure the problem isn't the switch itself -- if i understand momentaries, shouldn't the pedal switch when the two switch wires are touched together? well, they don't.  :-\

i originally swapped out the IC, the LED, and the input cap, but replaced everything back to stock in the hopes of making it act right, but no luck. all the offboard wiring seems ok. i'm officially at a loss.

So you've somehow managed to wire it up as always on?

Sounds perfect for a 3PDT true bypass mod to me...

;D

try putting the old switch back on...if it sounds, i think youll be ok.  :icon_cool:

and if thats the case, try a different switch.
no longer the battle of midway...(i left that band)...

i hate signatures with gear lists/crap for sale....

i am a wah pervert...ask away...

I would love to clone my DOD FX-10 Bi-Fet preamp, but I can't find a schematic and it seems like a lot of work to trace out what parts of the circuit board are related to the switching...

If you can find a schematic you can probably figure out what's actually switching the effect on and off, thereby figuring out what component in there is having problems.

And, since this is my second un-helpful post, consider this a bump.

Check out the DOD switch article that I have posted at my site:  http://ampage.org/hammer/files/dodswitch.gif

This has pretty much been the DOD standard for their analog pedals for well over 20 years, and counting.  That should let you know what parts are the switch and what aren't.  As a rule of thumb, you've got the 4007, the NPN transistor, the FETs, the diodes, 1M resistors and caps to ground that lead up to them.  Everything else will be effect circuit.
