MIDI Talk !

Hi ! I know maybe this is a bit OT but i need to know more about this thing. I have built a preamp and i want to know more about the switching system which implement the MIDI system. My preamp is pure analog, and i want to know wheteher i can use MIDI footcontroller to (only) switch between channels ? how ?
