well, I have one of each of these laying around.

I like the sound of these but...

I'm looking to have more control over the gain in the pre-clipping stage and possibly change the clipping stage for less sloppy, more focused sound.

anyone have any schematics for these?

i'm having trouble locating the clipping diodes in these ???

Help!

Seeing the content of the link for the FZ-3, it would seem you can't identify them because there may not be any.  The FZ-3 may well be one of several Boss pedals that use all-discrete simulated op-amp gain stages.  The BD-2 uses them as does the table top ROD-10.

actually there are three signal diodes in this circuit (FZ-3) :o

btw, toneman wants everyone who is interested in the FZ-3 schematic to PM him for details for a cost share purchase :icon_biggrin:

Hi FuzzFanaics,
I'm thinkin that Mr Hammer might be partially correct about the similarity to the ROD10.
Opening my unit up, I see nomenclature for a D6..highest designation.
That means, at least 6 diodes.  One D might B a polarity protection diode(?)
All transistors; no OpAmps.
No way of knowing if trannys are JFET, MOSFET, biPolar or Germs.
Only a service manual can say 4sure.

The Fuzz in the ROD10 has diodes to ground at the end D21 and D22.  It is also interesting in that the Fuzz uses BJT while the others distortions use Jfets.  Here are the waveforms from Dragonfly's Layout Gallery.
