Univibe Transformer Question

Hey,

I know this is going to sound stupid, but I don't want to use the whole 18volt adapter into an ac or dc jack. I'd like a transformer in the box with the univibe circuits n' such because I don't want to use 2 9 volt batteries together. I'd rather make a really long power cord rather than be restricted to finding an outlet close enough to use a 18v danelectro adapter or to have to bring an extension cord to reach that outlet. I use battery power for all of my pedals (try to keep the number of decent plugs I have to find to a minimum, and lots of times the places barely have enough plugs for the bass amp, guitar amp, and the PA).

So the question is:

What transformer should I get? Any recommendations for something from Mouser?

Thank you

BlueToad

Well, using a transformer with DC power is a recipe for disaster, so if you don't want to use multiple batteries or plug it into the wall you probably want a charge pump. see http://www.geofex.com/circuits/+9_to_33.htm for more info on this.

If it isn't broken, take it apart and fix it!

Herec

I can't use an AC transformer?

Also, how quickly does the pump drain batteries?

Thank you.

RedHouse

I think he/she means they want the unit self contained, with the transformer in the box instead of a plug-in wall wart.

Herec

Right on target RedHouse.

Its a he  ;).
