Think I'm starting to get this stuff but need a head check.

Hiwatt25

Okay, I built my first project this weekend and I'm so stoked that I find it hard to think of anything else.  Granted, it was just a simple A/B box but y'know, ya gotta start someplace.

Now, I'm excited that I built it but what I'm even more excited about is that initially, it didn't work and I was able to make it work.  I followed the pictures from the fulltone website that some of you provided.

http://www.fulltone.com/qaframe.html

I went through it with my DMM checking for continuity through the switch and in the process I think I may have come to understand how the thing works.  As it turns out part of one of the output jacks was grounding to the chassis.  (At least that's what I think)  So before I break my arm patting myself on the back would someone let me know if my thinking is right?

It is my beliefe that the jumpers going from terminal 1-8 and 2-7 (please follow link above for pictures) are there to ground the respective jack so that it doesn't stay on while the other jack is on?  It that the case?

Sorry to blather on, it just felt so good to make something that I will actually use and to be able to diagnose and fix it.  I think I'll try to add the LED's to this one.  By the way, I got my switch from Aron.  The fulltone switches are waaaay more expensive.

Thanks in advance.

Hello and well done! :D :D

Somehow, it feels good to fix something, even when it doesn't work at first...

You are right, part of the output jack socket is grounded. If you look at a guitar jack there are 2 parts: the tip (the pointy bit, above the line) and the sleeve? (below the line) which is to be grounded.

I believe that the jumpers ground the pedal that isnt being used, so it doesnt hum.

Hey, good for you!!
Ya know, I always feel good about whatever I build....unless it doesn't work of course :icon_evil:
In spite of having my fair share of "duds", DIY is still fun.

uh oh...you've been bitten by the bug!!  :icon_lol: :icon_wink:

Get prepared for sleepless nights, long days, and much of your time spent tweaking and building circuits... it is VERY addicting!!!!
