I noticed this post on the Orange forum of Plexipalace where a forum member mentions a treble booster mod for the AMZ mosfet booster.
QuoteI have built three treble boosters so far (a minibooster is up next, as soon as I get some extra time on my hands), and my favorite by far is the Mosfet booster by Jack Orman, http://www.muzique.com/schem/mosfet.htm I used however a switch between 100uf and 5uf for C5 (I never use 100uf. That's a wasted switch.) and with the 5uf it is a fabulous treble booster. For the FET I used an NTE 490. It's great with my homebrew '70s Orange, I have also tried it with a '70s 2x12" Orange 80w combo, sounds awesome. Highly recommended for oranges!
When I get around to ever building my Mosfet Booster (parts have been lying around for ages), I really must try this.

Is that what he calls the Muff Master?

The link is not available at the moment, so I can't verify. If so, I built it a few years ago. I would have to try it again to make sure, but I seem to remember that it was not as trebly as a Trebble Booster. But that's what I liked from it I think.

Here is how I built mine. I painted a winter scene on the box, and wanted to call it the IceMaster, but I kept the original name.

Added: Ok,I found this http://aronnelson.com/gallery/album18/AMZ_MUFFMASTER which reminded me more about the circuit. Sorry... wrong circuit.

The AMZ Mosfet Boost doesn't need any mods to make it a must build! :icon_wink: Maybe I'll try reducing that cap value for kicks at some point, but the circuit as it is the most useful effect I have on my board. Treble boost is covered in my setup by a Rangemaster. That, and I tend to play teles lately, so the treble end doesn't need much boost  :icon_lol: .

If it sounds too good to be true:
Tried it...shoulda known...
Changing that cap will remove bass at the output...only when the drive is full up....leaving that *hi-fi* comming thru & sounding like an ice pick.  The instant you turn your drive down...the effect is lost...and different caps achieve nothing.  A *good* treble booster removes bass at the input, then amplifies (and distorts) the upper frequencies.

Nope. The Muffmaster is a dirty silicon treble booster (similar circuit to the Rangemaster). The Mosfet Boost is a crystal clean booster (which can be modded for less bass response, i.e. a treble booster).
