I'm wondering, are these schematics treated with the same hush-hush attitudes that boutique builder's designs get?

Looking for his Ring Modulator... to no avail....

I think the thing with Anderton designs is that they are created to teach, but they are copyrighted. Many people in this forum (except me) have Anderton books and if you PM them, most will send you a copy of a schematic. Just ask nicely.

I have read both E.P.F.M. and DIY projects for guitarists countless times. Geat books. E.P.F.M. gives great explanations to how each project works electronically by going through the schematic "practically" part by part and explaining what happens to the signal (sound) along the way. I recommend them to anyone interested in DIY guitar effects, especially beginners. There are also mods to be found for a few of the projects. The only downfall are the IC's Mr. A. chose to use are almost obsolete.

Ask Mr. Anderton himself, here: http://acapella.harmony-central.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=50

Forgot he was at H-C.  :icon_mrgreen:

here's my PM..

QuoteHello Mr. Anderton

I was wondering if I could have a copy of the schematic for your Ring Modulator? Understandably, it has been kept in the pages of your awesome book, EPFM. However, I'm just a small builder having fun with circuits, and I'm very much interested in your solo-trimmer circuit replete with blend and carrier freq. controls.

Although one's word on the internet isn't worth the electrons its displayed on, I'll give you mine in that it won't be spread through the internet with abandon.

For what it's worth...Many of the anderton projects have slightly redrawn PCBs which accept modern ICs .
Look over at general Guitar Gadgets in the other projects and then in EPFM... Nice!

I think www.paia.com *still* sells C.A.'s pcbs for the EPFM book(?)
There are work-arounds for the obsolete opamps.

Thats the beauty of Mr. Andertons designs. Simplicity. Make one; it's a real ez build, and pretty cool sounding.

The beauty of EPFM is the level of nuts and bolts detail that is such great help to the beginner and beyond.  Stuff you need to know, but may be afraid to ask on this forum.  His descriptions of how the circuit operates, though basic, are quite insightful.  I was fortunate enough to be given a copy of EPFM by a frustrated DIY'er right as I was starting out.  I had a working ring modulator within a month of my first fuzzface project.
