A while back I inherited a bunch of electrical stuff from my grandpa. I posted a lot of the stock list to these forums a while back and I'm now realizing that I have what I think is a unique IC, and I'm wondering if it can be used for stomp boxes. It's an ECG 2086, a 4 stage darlington 16 pin Germanium IC. Here's some info from a cross refrenced part on Mouser:

4–Stage Darlington Array
Description:
The NTE2085 and NTE2086 are high voltage, high current Darlington arrays in a 16–Lead DIP type
package are designed for use as an interface between low–level logic and a variety of peripheral loads
such as relays, solenoids, DC and stepper motors, multiplexed LED and incandescent displays, heaters,
and similar loads to 480 watts (1.5A per output, 80V, 26% duty cycle).
The NTE2085 is a quad driver intended for use with TTL, low–speed TTL, and 5V MOS logic. The
NTE2086 is similar to the NTE2085 except that it is designed for use with PMOS and 12V CMOS logic.

Assuming this IC has potential, I would like to utilize it to it's max, which I can't do alone. Heck, the datasheet pinout has things on it I don't even understand (K, C, B?)

I don't want this to sound like one of those "I want a fuzz that sounds like this-design me a pedal!" threads, but there's no way I can do this alone, mainly for lack of experience with op amps and secondly for fear of frying this IC and not having anymore on hand.

So if there are any experienced builders out there interested in making this a group project, drop me a PM or respond here. Thanks for reading!

I love the smell of solder in the morning.

no one ever

Well, the only use I've heard of for transistor arrays (haven't heard of a darlington's use, however) is to replace outmoded flipflop switches in older boss pedals and for that certain Way Huge product.  :icon_biggrin:

Sorry I can't be of more help.
