Hi,
I can't find 2N5088 and 2N3906 transistors around here. They gave me BC549C as subtitute for 2N5088 (is it ok?) and they didn't have second one in catalogue at all. Which one should I get?
Thanks!

Almost any transistors of reasonable gain will do. BC549C is fine for the NPN, and BC558 or BC559 will do for the PNP. Otherwise, sub any audio transistor (being sure to use the correct type, NPN or PNP) and try it.

CHECK THE PINOUTS before you test it.

Pick the schematic [there's a Pos and a Neg Gnd Versions].
Then note that the middle transistor [IIRC] is upside down', on the schematic, the little arrows in the circles indicating the Base/Emitter diode shows orientation.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Just a tip that saves you a lot of trouble if you have different pinouts and are using a PCB or vero layout...

If you twist the legs to fit the right spots, put a dot of hot glue betwen them when you're done. It keeps them from touching and saves a lot of irritating repair.

Okay, go there and type in the part #, and there will most likely be datasheets on the part you requested.

Then look at the data sheet and find the pinout of the transistor. CBE, GSD, or some such.
