Ehx Small Clone loud pop

I do experience a strange problem with my ehx Small Clone.

After powering up, the first time I turn the effect on, there is a loud pop (very audible). And it happens most of the time, but not always. But the following times, I turn the effect on and off, there is no special noise.

If I power everything down and up again, the Small Clone will produce that loud pop the first time I turn the effect on.

Could it be the switch? Could it be a bad capacitor? Could it be a ... something else?

It's common with the SC. I suspect it's got to do with the LED, but I havn't had the time to find out. I just turn the power on, stomp on it, and only then connect to the amplifier - from then on - ot's quiet

Would a 1M pulldown resistor help this issue perhaps?
