I'm about to place an order at Mouser and was wondering if anyone knows if they carry cap assortments? I've tried searching their catalog using obvious keywords but you know how Mouser is.  :icon_evil:

I know I can get assortments elsewhere but I'm trying to kill two birds with one stone.
I love the smell of solder in the morning.

They've got 'em. Look for capacitor kits. May be easier to see in the paper catalog.

Here's two part numbers, not sure how useful they'll be for effects builds, since they span both values and voltages. Lots of big high voltage caps that you probably won't need.

i recommend getting a catalog from them, its huge, has everything, and is free.

Thanks guys! I've go the catalog, it is easier use but it's a little daunting still. Half the time I end up calling them expecting to order a pizza...because that catalog's like a phonebook...oh nevermind. :)

I never knew Small Bear carried assortments, and those prices seem very reasonable. Thanks for the tip!!!

Caps seem like one of the few things you can get reliably cheap and effectively on ebay. Look at the values in the projects you want to complete, and base your first orders on that. Then, fill in the gaps as you see "bargains". The variety of caps on ebay lets you choose them for aesthetic as well as functional values. I am quite guilty of buying caps for their cool aqua color or unique shape.

Banzai also do cap assortments as do Maplin in the uk (Not sure where your from) But I do find that it is easier to buy the caps that you need otherwise you get 2 caps you need and twenty that you don't. Make a list of 5 projects you fancy doing and order those caps with maybe the odd one or two spare. Also try asking if any members have a job lots they can spare. (I got some .1uF greenies from ebay if your despearate)

Good Luck
