heavy duty 2.1mm dc power plug anyone?!?

i am looking for a metal 2.1mm dc power jack that will fit inside a bix box i have around, the walls are about 1/4" thick and i can't find anytning on mouser. anyone can help???

The metal ones will short out negative tip power supplies (Boss type) if the enclosure is metal, and if steps aren't taken to insulate it.  I know, its too bad because they're sturdy and compact.  The plastic ones like small bear and bonzai sell are a good compromise, and do have a good amount of thread as Bancika was saying.

Ya know, before I read all of this, I built a stompbox (in UK) with a metal power plug, and it worked! However, there was something odd. Whenever i pulled out the input (stereo switching trick), I could still light up the LED with the footswitch, even though there was no jack!

Now, I'm not recommending this, infact dont do what I've done.

What possible side effects are there fo doing this - could I have damaged any of the circuit?
