hi...

i'm trying to figure out what shorted out on my DMM and after reading the "what to do when it doesn't work" thread as well as RG's article, i'm in a fix.

the DMM has no option for battery power at 24V, so i would have to get voltage readings while using the ac adaptor.  are there any dangers and therefore any precautions i should take when doing this?  i'm in no mood for getting any amount of electricity running through me, so any help would be great.

as far as finding out what shorted out on the board, would an audio probe prove useful when the power part of the circuit is getting hot?  and if so, would i only be able to probe around for a limited amount of time before the heat would cause any more damage?

thanks a lot... i'm open to any and all suggestions!

edit: also, could any component short out or is there a certain type (cap, resistor, etc.) that would be more commonly prone to this?  thanks!

i see in this post that 12V could potentially be dangerous...

should i be worried about 24V?  i'm not sure how else to debug this thing... anybody??

thanks

i also read in another debugging thread that with older EH pedals if the signal is going through in both on and bypassed modes but no effect is heard (in this case delay) then a chip is fried and good luck finding a replacement... but the input resistor is getting very hot, so would this not be true?
