I know the standard rule for subbing caps, but just thought I'd ask...

In the Phozer circuit, there are three 1uf polarized caps. I have only one polarized 1uf caps. Is it ok to mix polarized and non polarized capacitors?

If increasing those three caps makes the speed cut in half, what about decreasing them to make it faster? Say to non polarized 0.1 uf caps?

Also, I read that the buffer should be left off when breadboarding-why? (Buffer is the input at J201, correct?) If so, do I just use a 0.1 input cap to the base of the MPSA13?

Halfing the value is perhaps as far as you can go, using 0.1's is ten times less !!
Try .47uf or .68uf poly caps if you have them, you still may get unpredictable speeds
though !
Keep them matched and see what happens ...
