Boss DD2 Buffer question

This is an example of a "double buffer", right? A JFET buffer feeding a transistor buffer.  Is this really necessary? Does this help reduce hiss?  Also, the 2sc732 transistor data sheet says it only has .2dB Noise Figure!  Are there any comparable low noise transistors that are common?  The 2n5089 has a NF of 2dB.

Lastly, why does the 10k input series resistor come before the .027 cap? I don't think there is any electrical reason for it.

no one ever

Electrically, I don't think it matters whether the input resistor comes before or after the input cap.

As for the noise figure, that's incredible.  :icon_neutral:

I've always suspected that the reasoning behind this to maintain a high input impedence and a low output impedence form the buffer stage.  Boss did this on more than one pedal, the CS-2 and a couple of others also have cascaded input buffers.
