well, so far ORIONCUSTOM.COM has been the only company to NAIL the halo. but he doesnt sell the inductors by themselves. he gave me a couple because i did some favors for him. (put a commercial for him up on calmagazine.com)

theres a certain "consistancy with inconsistancy" with older inductors that most reproduction halos share.

for example:
the fulltone inductor measures between 470 and 620MH. what i mean is, they not only lack consistancy, but youre better off with the stock crybaby inductor with anything around 600MH.

the castledine inductor was almost as if it were a mix of the yellow fasel, and a big chunk of suck glued together. not to mention the one i had measured around 480MH.

AREA51 is currently down, as Dan is still in the process of moving to michigan. hes a gent, and has, in my opinion, the second best saturated and tuned inductor. its got a nice fat tone in the lower register, but, again, is saturated wonderfully.

arielfx has the repro halo, but doesnt really seem to have much girth. its good, but...nothing to write home about.

good luck finding someone whos willing to part with their original halo inductor. they all measure differently, indeed. but ive found that theyre not off by much, and most of them sound very similar.

ive also found that the inductor teese uses in his picture wah has a tone very similar to the castledine inductor. i dont like it. when i had one i wanted to put in ANY other inductor, but never got around to it before i sold it.

i dont know if this is the right place, but if anyones interested in buying some super old ORIGINAL .22 tropical fish caps, and super old .01 Polypropylene caps, feel free and PM. i got them from a factory which made wah pedals. no mojo here, they do sound "vintage." i didnt buy them online either, i bought them AT the old factory.

i know youre not supposed to talk about Teese, as he doesnt like it (i guess), but i REALLY dont like his inductors. just right now i put his original inductor back in the RMC3, and set it to "picture", and it was TERRIBLY thin, and made my clyde picture wah laugh from the start. of course i put my Orion inductor back, and felt a little more relaxed. not that i use that wah, but its good to have awesome wahs laying around.

i dont think anyone wants to recreate the original clyde wah. otherwise, they would have already. no tweaking to get more bass, no tweakings to get more pulp. its no wonder "modders" cant seem to find that "hendrix at woodstock" tone...just recreate them as they were and enjoy! tell me im wrong.  ;D

must be the B.U.M., right?  :P

i dont have any inductors to go around, but do have capacitors up the wah-zoo. around 300, i think. but i dont own 150 wahs...so.....

if you want an orion inductor, itll cost you an arm and a leg, because he doesnt sell them by themselves. gotta get one of his wahs in order to obtain a Galactic Inductor. ive got 2, so theyre up for "auction", if anyone wants their clyde to sound like a clyde... ;D
no longer the battle of midway...(i left that band)...

i hate signatures with gear lists/crap for sale....

although morley offers the H2Q inductor, which i havent tried yet...and plan on it, asap.

Compared with my original 67' Vox, the ArielFX HALO is absolutly amazing.
I can't imagine why you don't like it.

The whole inductor issue for me has some personnal pref ...differant folks differant strokes.
B of M thanks for that bit of info  but...but i believe getting the mojo goin is beyond just the inductor....eventho it plays a crucial part....check out the link below
i have since gone inductorless ... colorsound baby...

Bingo!

Exactly. You have to look at the whole package. Some people think that the inductor is everything, but it's not.

QuoteI modded my Thomas Organ Vox to have three switchable inductors. (Fulltone, TDK, & Yellow Fasel)

Can you really tell a difference between them? Or better yet, can a non-musician friend of yours tell the difference between them? That to me is the real test. We guitar players are completely convinced that changing one resistor in a pedal makes it sound different/better/worse, but I think many times these differences are so subtle that most people besides ourselves would not be able to hear a difference. Pyschoacoustics at work again... (not suggesting that you can't hear a difference, but I am always a little skeptical about this sort of stuff)

I am interested to hear what that one sounds like, too. Does anyone know what mH they are and what DC resistance they have?

Agreed as well.

Yes, I think the transistors play just as big a part as the inductor.

I can tell. But, it is very small change if your not paying attention to it. Your right, I don't think even my band would notice any difference if I switched inductors on the fly (which I can do). The whole reason I took out the Red Fasel and put the TDK back in it's place was to have a noticable change. (the TDK inductor is not the nighmare everyone says it is) The Red Fasel and the Fulltone inductors when I was switching back and forth were very close in sound and feel, but I eventually chose the fulltone.

I agree with that. In fact, one of my most expressive wah pedals is my 80s Dunlop with the TDK inductor.... Oh no, did he just say that?! Yep, he did folks.
