Offboard wiring question

Hey,

I'm starting to wire up the switch fro my Mosfet Booster.  Referring to the Offboard wiring diagrams from Tonepad, it seems #5 would fit my situation.  I've only built TB boxes before, so i have no experience with wiring power to a board.  IS this a better way (the input grounded on bypass) compared to the first example here (the way i have wired TB loops before):

Is this input grounding important?

Thanks,
Brian

Most people like to ground the input of the effect instead of letting the input float free where it can pick up noise and other bad things which can leak into the output signal. Its cheap insurance.

Thanks!

The Offboard wiring diagram from Tonepad looks a bit different from the Banzai one above.  I'm assuming these are only minor differences/preferences in wiring the switch, which won't have any other effect - ie. pick either way - its up to me!

One more (newbie) question -

When wiring up the LED - the Tonepad offboard diagram (#5) shows the flat side (short lead) of the LED wired to the switch, and the round side (long lead) wired to the resistor and DC jack/9V connector).

A diagram from GGG shows it the other way (with the short lead wired to the resistor and the long lead wired to the switch).  Does this matter?  I recall something about the positive/negative sides of the LED, but i can't recall specifics...

Anyone?

Seljer

the flat side of the LED goes to ground

It doesn't matter if the resistor for the LED is before or after the LED, as long as its in series with it it'll work.

The "flat" side of the LED goes to ground while the "round" side goes to positive. You can put the resistor in series on either side. You can choose which way to wire it up. It shouldn't matter.

This is how I wire mine up.

Don't remember where I saw it done this way but,
I've been doing it like this all the time.........
