My wife and I were antiqueing, and a came across a box, that said "Vintage Knobs 98 cents each". I picked out 11 of them that were of a type like I'd never seen. While I was up to the counter, I got to thinking about that whole box full of knobs, and how they'll probably just sit forever unless another stompbox geek comes by. I told the guy that I would give him my name and number, and if the guy that owns booth 92 wants to make a deal he can call me, and I'll buy the lot for $25.00. He said, "Well wait a minute and I'll just make a call". Long story short, I ended up with another 265 vintage knobs for $25.00! Yes, I said 265! I also picked up 3 late 60 or early 70s transistor radios for $3.00 each. Two had AC cords as well as batteries, so I plugged them in and they worked. The other one needs the + battery lead soldered back on the board as soon as I figure out how to get it off. The the little clock radio was a GE, and the two portables were an Admiral, and a Coranado. Both were in leatherette cases with carrying handles about the size of steno pads. I have no idea if they're worth more than $3.00, but they should have $3.00 worth of germaniums in them at least among other stuff. I don't know if any transistor radios that are not the pocket style are worth anything, but I'd rather not tear them up if they're collectable. I'll have to check it out. Anyway, it was a pretty cool outing.

Yeah, I reposted it today, because I couldn't find it from when I posted it last night. I did a spell check, and then I "thought" I posted it, but when I couldn't find it, I figure I just spell checked it, and didn't end up posting it. :icon_confused: Anyway, yes, it was one of the deals of the century. There are several chicken head style knobs, and several with different styles of pointers. Some of them have the little flat spring in them instead of the set screw, so I'll have to file a flat spot on the pot shaft to accept them. There are also a few that are the size of the top of a pop can. A real interesting assortment to be sure. I believe the best quality of knobs I've ever scored, was off of an 8 channel Peavy PA that had been in a flood (paid $10.00), The knobs were all solid machined aluminum with dual set screws. It also had a gob of 50K pots in it and a very nice reverb tank. So far, I don't know of anyone whose beat Marty Mart for scoring. He got to gut out an enromous mixing desk, that was just given to him because someone was upgrading their recording studio or something like that. If you do a search you'll find out what all it contained.
